Wanting to Know Jesus!

Wanting to Know Jesus!

I want to know Jesus! When I say know him, I don’t mean know what he did (rose from the dead, miracles, teachings, etc.) but I want to know who he was. Think of it this way, I can say I know Michael Jordan. He played 15 seasons in the NBA, won 6 NBA Championships, 5 MVP Regular Season awards, 14 time all-star and the greatest basketball player to ever live. But that is simply knowing what Michael Jordan did; it doesn’t mean I know who he is. I want to know Jesus so I have been spending a lot of time trying to do just that and I want to invite you to join me on this journey. I think 2021 is a perfect time start this journey. Usually when we do sermon series at Covenant, we will jump back in forth from Old Testament to New Testament, to Paul’s letters to Gospels, but from now until Easter it will be 100 percent Jesus; to try to know him more! Through January and February, we will look at the Mighty Names of Jesus. Jesus is called Prophet, Priest, King, Son of God, Healer, but what exactly do these names mean? Why were they integral to defining the person Jesus? Each week, we are going to look at one of these names, pull back the layers of their meaning to help us discover more about who Jesus is and perhaps can make us better disciples of Jesus. I can’t think of a better way to put 2020 behind us and peer into 2021 than getting to know Jesus better. Please continue to pray for your Session and we look how to lead in the best way during this time. And know that we are praying for you. Blessings, Duawn
