Food Mission Results

Last year, our Missions Team began investigating a fresh approach to serving food to our community.  We found a new partner in the Oklahoma Food Bank and with their help, we began our new food Pantry Program in August, 2018.  Many of you have helped serve and many have helped with donations and much needed prayers. We are a year into this program and I want to share some statistics that has been gathered by the Missions Team.

Over the past year, we have served 9,236 pounds of food to people in our community for a cost of $4,076.84.  That averages a cost of .44 cents per pound.

Over the past year, our church has provided 352 households with food assistance.  That averages to 29 households per month.  In those households; 109 were children, 173 were adults and 59 were seniors.

Also over the past year, we have also been in charge of overseeing the backpack program for the Latta School.  The backpack program insures that no child from pre-k-6th will go home from school for the weekend and not be fed.  Before a child leaves school for the weekend, they are given a sack of food that will feed them until they get back Monday morning.  Last year, we averaged giving out 60 food sacks per week!

I just wanted to give everyone an update on what is happening with this ministry of your church.  If you get a minute visit with someone who works in the Food Pantry or with someone who works with the Backpack Program; they all have a story of how God has touched their lives.  And thank you all for your prayers and your donations and for making this possible to those in need in our community.

Blessings,
Duawn
