It seems we have made it through another summer vacation and by the time you read this, Wednesday Nite Live will have begun. It looks like we have an exciting new year beginning . As we begin this new year, there are exciting new things in the works.
For years we have collected boxtops for Education and shared them with the Cumberland Presbyterian Children’s Home in Denton, Texas. It is now possible for you to stop clipping boxtops and send the information directly to the school of your choice via an app on your phone. If you are interested, you can visit youtube and find the Boxtops new app. I am going to check it out soon.
The collection of Apple receipts is now Dicus receipts but that is the only change. Mr. Dicus is the driving force behind the redemption of the receipts so we will still be collecting them for St. Lukes as we have in the past.
Covenant Daily Bread is serving an increasing number of families as food insecurity becomes more and more of an issue in people’s lives. In order to volunteer for this important outreach, folks need to go through a short training required by the Food Bank. This is a very rewarding opportunity for folks to help serve their neighbors. The Food pantry is open the third Monday of each month from the hours of 9:00 til 11:00 am. Covenant volunteers work from 8:30 til 11:30. Thanks to all who make our feeding ministry a success.
The Missions team’s next meeting is September 15th after church. Please continue to pray for the mission team, our church and its outreach projects. Mission team members are Honey Mearns, Pastor Duawn, Larry and Nancy Young, Betty Owens, Judy Davidson, Barbara Johnson and Barbara Isaacs.
Oh and one more interesting tidbit. On October 25th, Mama T’s is having a fund raising gala. Tickets are $50. Lots of money you think? NOOOOO! They are having a Dancing with the Stars type competition and our beloved pastor Duawn and his lovely daughter Anna are dancing. I may have to attend just for that! It will be worth $50.
