In 1866, after many failed attempts and the loss of the life of his brother, Alford Nobel was able to harness the power of the unstable explosive, Nitroglycerine. At the time it was considered one of the most powerful explosives on earth. He wanted to name it in such a way as to indicate its powerful nature. He picked a Greek word to name it: Dunamis, It is transliterated into English as “Dynamite” and found most frequently in the Greek New Testament of the Bible and transliterated into English as “Power.” It is the word used in the New Testament to indicate the power that God used to raise Christ from the dead.
“And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe to the working of his mighty Power, (Dunamis) which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead… Ephesians 1:19-20 (KJV)
The Power of the Resurrection completes the plan of redemption that God had set out from the beginning of the Old Testament. We all have the Power of the resurrection within us. He gives power to those who belong to him:
“I became a servant of this Gospel by the gift of God’s grace given me through the working of His Power! “ Ephesians 3:7
He works wonders above what we think or ask:
“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his Power that is at work within us.” Ephesians 3:20
The Power of the Resurrection declares the ultimate triumph of the Christian:
“Because I live, you shall live also ! John 14:19
The most awesome Power in the universe , the power of the Resurrection, asserts that you have it and no one or no-thing can ever take it from you.
“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present no the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of god that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39
“I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch then out of my Father’s hand. John 10:28
You have the power of God right here on earth because you have the Power of the resurrection in you. And no matter what happens to you, you have that power. If death gets you in its clutches, or illness eats away your time and your life you still have the Dunamis, of the resurrection in you which means that you have eternal life.
