Have you ever had one of those weeks where you wish you could stay in bed and hope the troubles of the day would slide by your door? I just had one of those weeks and I started to feel really sorry for myself. But, as I sit in front of my ancient PC, I recognize how truly blessed I am. It is cool in my house, opposed to the amazing, scorching temps outside. I have more than I need to be comfortable and my health is improving daily. I realize that I am able to meet my needs while others struggle daily just to make another day. God has given me these gifts and it is my responsibility to reach out to others.
As a church, Covenant continues to work to serve others each month, in various ways. We will be serving the evening meal at Compassion Outreach in September. More information will be coming in the future.
Covenant Daily Bread serves our neighbors on the third Monday of each month. They are open during hours of 9:00 til 11:00 am. Covenant volunteers work from 8:30 til 11:30. We continue to be grateful for the volunteers who help make our feeding ministry a success. Box tops for education continues on a limited basis as the program is being phased out on many products. We will send them to the Children’s Home in Denton until the program is terminated. Boxtops can be placed in the plastic tote in the church foyer. We also continue support of Matthew 25 ministries at St. Luke’s through the collection of Apple Market receipts. These may be placed in the blue & red mini trash can in the church foyer as well.
The Missions team meetings resume on August 18th after church. Please continue to pray for the mission team, our church and its outreach projects . Mission team members are Honey Mearns, Pastor Duawn, Larry and Nancy Young, Betty Owens, Judy Davidson, Barbara Johnson and Barbara Isaacs.
“You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature, rather, serve one another in love.” Galatians 5:13 NIV
